Gangrenepete says, "carp is mostly scored by consecutive masterpieces."
Gangrenepete says, "and speed on how fast you complete them as well"
Gangrenepete says, "I always work two consecutive holes at a time"

Gangrenepete says, "I use to place the longer pieces that won't fit in the two I'm working on"
Gangrenepete says, "You have to put something in them ocassionally to keep a piece from flying off."
Gangrenepete says, "So you're working two adjacent holes"
Gangrenepete says, "when you get down to the last few pieces, try to make them the most commonly occurring pieces."
Gangrenepete says, "There's a list on ypp on the pieces which occur most frequently all the way down to the least friequent"

Gangrenepete says, "and as ye get used to the puzzles and pieces, ye'll be able to know which pieces ye need to finish a hole."
Gangrenepete says, "Once yer down to 2-3 ye need, and ye know which they are, delay fillin that hole as long as possible to give ye more time to get those pieces. So let it shimmy and shake"
Gangrenepete says, "You'll see the warnings, the first one they shake a little"
Gangrenepete says, "and after you set another piece in another hole, it will shake a lot, meaning you have to put something there, or a piece will fly off."
Gangrenepete says, "and you get a penalty and no masterpiece"
Gangrenepete says, "So if I have one of the two or three pieces a hole needs to be made a masterpiece, I wait til it's shaking so that I have to place it"
Gangrenepete says, "If you place too early"
Gangrenepete says, "you'll find that the next piece you need comes up just after you're forced to place another piece in that hole"

Gangrenepete says, "So if ye know ye've booched a hole, try to complete it before ye make yer next masterpiece. Ye can pull excellent to good consistently with just craftsmanship, though"
Gangrenepete says, "or if you have a long string of masterpieces already in that set, then try to hold off on the booched one, until you've made a couple more masterpieces in that string."

Gangrenepete says, "Try to build combos in as few clicks as possible: 2x3 in 2 clicks, bingo in 5, donkey in 8, 1x3 plus crab in 2 clicks ...."
Gangrenepete says, "if ye can't find any of those, use a puffer fish or jelly""
Gangrenepete says, "and, aye, the bilge will occasionally turn against ye, but try to work through it and get back to the technique and yer golden bilge pump"

Gangrenepete says, "I mainly concentrate on bingos"

Gangrenepete says, "if ye need them to get the points. Don't need a crab if yer clearin a bingo, but really do for a 1x3. However, if yer workin with full bilge, I shoulda mentioned this, is all about crab-clearin. One cleared crab with full bilge is golden"
